A short break
The Dragon Tail Run
Today I had the chance to ride the infamous Tail of the Dragon in NC. Words cannot describe how amazing that ride was, far and away the best road I have ever ridden 🙂 I did a time lapse of the ride, but it didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. Just too many quick turns! The next time I go through I will have to do a proper video.

Also I have officially name given her a name, meet Lucy!
Up next: Appalachian Mountain Run
I have left the coast and headed inland. After reading about some of the best rides in the country (http://www.lonelyplanet.com/north-america/travel-tips-and-articles/77139) I realized that #2 on the list is really close to me. I am on my way over to Deals Gap and am going to ride through the Appalachian Mountains up to Virginia!
I just realized that I haven’t been recording my journey so a couple days ago I setup my camera to do a time lapse, it took a little getting use too so the first little bit is rough, but after that its pretty fun 🙂

Made it to Georgia

I have landed in Kingsland, GA for the night. Today was some really fun riding, traffic was great other then one 6 mile pile up. Even that wasn’t too bad as there was a “bike” lane – I am pretty close to a bike 🙂
A friend also sent me this as the best route for going through CA. I will need to take a short detour and swing by SF for a couple days, but this sounds like an amazing ride!

The Adventure Begins
This is a rough draft of my road trip for the summer. Doing a little bit of math I figure that I need to cover about 75 miles per day along this route to make sure I don’t get stuck in the cold 🙂 Between a month in Europe, work, lots of detours, and avoid the freeways at all costs I think thats a pretty reasonable goal. If you live somewhere near the blue line we should grab a beer and/or go for a ride (but in reverse order!).
Here are a couple of pics from my ride between Tampa and Gainesville today

I am officially looking forward to the next month
Tomorrow I am headed to San Francisco to spend 10 days with all of my amazing co-workers at the new Automattic Lounge.
On October 7th I will be on my way to St Thomas for a little vacation and to find a place to stay for the winter, which reminds me – I need to setup a calendar and signups for when you are coming down to visit!
A quick week in paradise will conclude with me on my way back to Wisconsin to see a couple friends get married and spend a few days catching up with MKE.
I am pretty sure if you are reading this then I will end up running into you at some point in the next month, so I can’t wait to see you 😉
