PROTIP: When you have lots of things pulling power from your cinema display (Macbook air + iPhone + iPad + external hdd) make sure  you are giving the display enough power, odd things happen when you dont 😦  After taking the display off the power strip and giving it its own outlet all my problems have gone away 🙂
